I know the answer is probably EVERYONE! But maybe there's a classmate you'd not seen for years - since graduation. Maybe there's a great buddy with whom you lost touch. Maybe its the person who could always make you laugh until Coke came out your nose, or knows some small secret no one else knows! Perhaps someone you weren't close to then, is closer than you could imagine now.
It was great to see Barbara Scales our friendship goes back to kindergarten at St. Joe's. I always feel the world is an OK place because Barbara is in it. She's like my reality check - always tells it like it is. Why beat around the bush? Barb's here? Yup, life is good.
I was so happy to see Amy Eckert Mian! She always made me laugh til my sides hurt. I still remember her describing sneaking out of detention in a musical instrument case from her previous Catholic school. French horn? Tuba? Cello? Can't remember, but you can imagine her in there being drug, Bugs Bunny fashion, down stairs by her conspirators.
It was so good to see EVERYONE! Class of 74 and friends, you look MAAHVELOUS!

I too really enjoyed myself tremendously at the reunion...all who had a part in setting it up really out did yourselves !!!
ReplyDeleteI especially liked our little group hike at High Point( Peggy,Michelle,Dave ,my bro and myself) ...I feel I got to know our little group even more and it was most enjoyable...
Plus after some or most left to go home , Tom G invited my bro and myself for a pontoon boat ride around Lake Mohawk...I thank you all for such a pleasurable break from taking care of my children, I returned to FL refreshed and ready to go back to my responsibilities of parenting...farewell my fellow NHS alumni many Blessings till our 40th YIKES ! :)
It's so hard to single out one or two, or even three or 10, because for me there were/are so many who fit Maggie/Jane's first-paragraph description. The two Floridians who previously posted in this thread -- Maggie and Mahhhgret -- are right up there, where my mind races to specific memories and incidents, both in school and since school. People like Bob Calderon and Peggy Dolan and Kitty Gray and Henry Neilley and Debbie Salza and Linda Santagata and Michele Edison and Barbara Feldman and Missy Housby and Kathy Orr and Mike Wittrien ... my smile starts to form just thinking about our minutes together during Reunion Weekend. Then there's Diane Kemnitzer, Connie Schleiff, Jeff Barnhill ('75), John Geuther, Vince Kice ... waaayyy too much history to recall, sometimes even best to repress some of those memories. And now I've left out about two-three-dozen others -- please don't take it personally. One who I had not seen since graduation, and am glad I saw at the reunion: Susan Lenington. Wait, a second one, too: Cathy LaPrelle.
ReplyDeleteI did not get to see....although it would have been great to be there. Where are those pictures anyway? Do we really have to wait until the 40th? How many classmates are within easy reach? Wanna do something for Valentines Day? (Well you do need some planning time).
ReplyDeleteAmy Eckert always put a smile on my face, too.
Jeremy House, Rick's son (together, they were our reunion photographers), is working on the Web site problem, according to his wife. When I hear from him, with the right codes and procedures, I'll report back here on the blog, on Facebook, and via the e-mail list. Jeremy was away over the weekend, but will supposedly work everything out soon.
ReplyDeleteI'll chime in too, although I am hard-pressed to pick just a few of my favorites from the love fest that impersonated a high school reunion... First of all, hands-down that Amy M. is a crowd-pleaser. My hiking compadres Michele L. and Andrea H.(among others), my "date" for the evening Mary Ann S. (o.k., Michael, too - he sure was funny on the ride home!), Darlene S., and last but not least my cousins JoEllen and Carol. I spent WAY too much time on the dance floor, and not enough catching up with folks... AFTER the reunion, I got to spend some quality time with Maggie S., Jeanne P., and Karen Driscoll, who did not get back from Italy in time to attend the reunion.
ReplyDeleteAnd just to throw in some token males :-) - Mike R., Russell M., Roberto C., and Johnnie F.
Too many favorites - too little space.
